Equine Osteopathy

Manual therapy for the horse’s wellbeing and performance

In addition to his work with people, Alberto Tomé applies his osteopathic knowledge to the equestrian world, offering a manual and global approach to the treatment of sport horses, leisure horses and horses in recovery.

Equine osteopathy aims to restore the animal’s structural balance, improve mobility and help prevent injuries through specific non-invasive techniques.

Equine osteopathy

Especially suitable in cases of:

  • Loss of athletic performance
  • Movement asymmetries
  • Back or neck pain
  • Behavioural changes related to physical work

A global approach to movement

The goal is not only to treat one specific area, but to understand how the horse’s body is organised, which structures are compensating and how to restore a more harmonious mechanics.

During assessment and treatment, the work is carried out in coordination with Kine Equus , always observing the horse’s body language and its response to manual work.

This approach makes it possible to adapt each intervention to the rhythm of the animal itself, waiting for its reactions and always seeking a functional response that respects its natural biomechanics.

“Structure governs function, in the horse too.”

Frequently asked questions about equine osteopathy

We answer some common questions before assessing your horse.

When might a horse need an equine osteopathy session? +
It may be recommended when you notice stiffness, reduced mobility, changes in performance, difficulty with certain exercises, discomfort when saddling or a slower recovery after work.
Is equine osteopathy only for horses in pain? +
No. It can also be useful as a preventive approach or to improve movement function, especially in sport horses, young horses in training or animals that have changed routine, workload or rider.
How often should a horse be checked? +
It depends on the type of horse, its discipline, the intensity of the work and whether there is any previous discomfort. Some horses benefit from regular check-ups, while in other cases it is enough to assess them when a clear change appears.
Can a young or non-sport horse be assessed? +
Yes. This is not a service only for competition horses. It can also be valuable for young horses, leisure horses or at key moments such as changes in training, growth, management or adaptation to work.
Does equine osteopathy replace veterinary care? +
No. They are complementary approaches. When the case requires it, veterinary assessment is essential. Osteopathic work is integrated into a global view of the horse and its wellbeing.
In which areas do you provide equine osteopathy sessions? +
We mainly provide equine osteopathy assessments and sessions in the Valencian Community and nearby areas, with regular travel to Alicante, Valencia, Murcia and Albacete.
Do you travel to stables or private properties to treat horses? +
Yes. Sessions are usually carried out in the horse’s usual environment, whether at stables, equestrian centres or private properties. This allows a better understanding of movement, handling and working conditions.
Is it possible to organise equine osteopathy days at the same centre? +
Yes. When there are several horses interested within the same centre or equestrian facility, it is possible to organise working days over one or more days. Travel to other cities or even other countries can also be considered when there is a sufficient number of horses to assess.
